Affiliation:Center for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education
Title:Associate Professor

Research Interest
I am a social psychologist that conducts quantitative and qualitative research. I apply social psychology in the classroom by helping students develop skills related to academic writing, reading, and research while carrying out classroom research directed towards such aims. Both outside and inside the classroom, I am interested in understanding how individuals interact and communicate in the modern-day cultural and societal context of Japan, especially how modesty functions as a means to feel good about an extended self (i.e., mutual self-enhancement).
