The Graduate School is comprised of two consecutive courses; namely the Master course (the first two years) and the Doctor course (the next three years), and require the following qualifications.
Admission Requirements
A bachelor's degree
Completion of 16 years schooling
Completion 15 years schooling and recognized as higher by Graduate School of Education, Kyoto University
Self-supporting foreign students wishing to enter the Master course should pass the same entrance examination as is given to Japanese students which is written in Japanese.
Entrance examination is held in beginning February.

International students are required to have good skills in Japanese because official documents, lectures and examinations are held in Japanese.
Since it is difficult for ordinary foreign students to pass an entrance examination, foreign students are recommended to be an as "Kenkyu-sei"(this means research student) to spend some trial university life during one year or two years.
After having familiarized yourself with Japanese environments, you might be ready to take the entrance examination.

An apricant fore "Kenkyu-sei" should be approved by a faculty staff of the research area in advance. The ordinary attendance period of research students is one year. In principle, only those who graduated university are eligible.
