Abstract
Development Validation of a Self-Concept Questionnaire for Hong Kong Chinese Adults
S.-F. Tam
A hierarchical multidimensional self-concept model was constructed for Hong Kong Chinese adults in a previous research of the author (Tam & Watkins, X995). This model serves as a theoretical basis which provides understanding of self-concepts of this population for the development of a questionnaire to measure their self-concepts. The present study attempted to validate this instrument, the Self-Concept Questionnaire for Hong Kong Chinese Adults (SCQHK) with 200 responses. The results provided evidence that this instrument is psychometrically sound. The scales have satisfactory internal consistency reliability, and the factor analytic results supported the factor structure as suggested by the self-concept model. Evidence for construct validity is also presented.
