Bilingual
transfer can involve more than just phonology, morphology, lexicon,
or syntax, and includes also the manner or facility far information
processing. This paper looks at (1) visual acuity for Chinese characters
and English letters presented vertically versus horizontally, and
(2) the size incongruity effect for Chinese versus English number
names, with Chinese-English bilingual subjects. The presence or absence
of cross-over effect is discussed in terms of the nature of the task
as well as language experience.
