Teaching
English as a Second Language: Listening and Pause
H. Okabayashi |
The
present study was conducted to improve language learners' listening
comprehension skill in English. Two experiments of the present study
examined (1) whether a pause could improve the listening comprehension
level of Japanese learners and (2) whether learners' sound discrimination
ability for a single word could affect their listening comprehension
level for a sentence. After all, it was found that (1) learners'
sound discrimination ability directly affected their listening comprehension
level for a sentence, and (2) pause-inserted training method could
affect the level of listening comprehension only for training sessions.
