Retrieval
deficiency and retrieval process in kindergarten children
H. Kikuno |
In
the first two of three trials kindergarten children were required
to recall items by category from presented 3-category or S-category
list, and on the third trial they were instructed to make free recall.
The results showed that on constrained to free recall trials, recall
declined for the 8-category list more greatly than for the 3-category
list, and that the facilitation effects of constrained recall were
retained if cues of category were given on the third trial. These
results suggest that by experiencing constrained recall kindergarten
children would fail to retrieve higher categorized units, but not
to retrieve the items within each categorized units. |
